Tonight I was feeling a bit ill and so decided to get the tube home rather than run or cycle. I grabbed a copy of timeout on the way out of the office and headed to the station. Like most Londoners – I hate getting the tube, however, in the copy of timeout I came across something quite interesting:
Home Run London is a series of free organised runs which go from central locations in London to a number of popular destinations – normally following the tube route. Work in the city and live in Clapham? Why not join them for a run home once a week? As well as a guide, being in a group and enjoying the run rather than paying for the tube, you’ll get a free ‘home run’ t-shirt and they will even carry your bag for you too. Amazing.
Just visit their home page, sign up and note the run time and place. There’s a list of routes already going and if enough people suggest another route then they will put it on.
I think this is a great idea, getting more people running and doing it in a safe and social setting. If they put my route up there then I’ll join them now and again for sure.
If you’re going to join them, why not pick up some half price running shoes?
