How many marathons could you run on consecutive days? I’d fancy a jog around 4-5 before I couldn’t take it any more and my mind and legs collapsed, refusing to move me one more step. Well, putting me to shame, one British lady is looking to break the world record by running 53 marathons in 53 days. That’s a staggering 1,389 miles (or 2,235km) in under two months.
Amy Hughes started her challenge on 6th August and has so far completed 17 marathons in 17 days, breaking the record for number of consecutive marathons run by a female runner. She doesn’t want to stop there though and is aiming to complete the challenge and world record in Manchester on September 27th.
Amy is raising money for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, a children’s brain tumor charity. You can support her and see which cities she’s running in via her website here, follow her on twitter here and donate via her charity page, here.
Good luck to her, this is an amazing effort already.
